Ages: 5-9
Materials: construction paper, cardstock paper, standard paper, watercolour paper,
newspaper/magazine scraps, glue sticks, pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, markers, oil
pastel, chalk pastel, canvases or canvas paper, acrylic paint, paint palettes, paint brushes,
aprons, scissors.
Description: This class introduces young artists to fundamental skills such as observing shapes,
light and shadow, basic perspective, and colour mixing. Students will be exposed to a variety of
materials such as acrylic paint, watercolour, coloured pencils, oil pastels, and collage. Projects
will frequently be focused around famous artists such as Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Yayoi
Kusama, and Maud Lewis, giving students an understanding of different art movements and
styles. No previous experience is expected.
